Throughout my years of work, I have been moving between coastal cities, so there was absolutely no problem in obtaining fresh seafood, not to mention the diversity in the level of restaurants that I have been visiting one day. Shrimp is one of the foods that I cannot forget any situation I lived with.

For me, shrimp (and fresh oysters) is by far my favorite food. And since I've decided to start blogging about seafood, I think this would be a great opportunity to smash the best ways to cook and eat classic shrimp cocktail.

Prepare shrimp cocktail

When you're getting ready for a shrimp cocktail, there are a few things you should think about:
1- The type of shrimp to be purchased
2- When serving the shrimp cocktail.

When buying shrimp in general, try to buy the best quality that you can buy. I buy frozen shrimp because it is the easiest and closest to me and it is available to the majority of us, but if you are lucky enough to live near the ocean, then by all means fresh shrimp that was caught soon will be better in preparation.

You can make shrimp cocktails on the same day if you like. It is a very easy dish this way. Simply store it in the fridge to be ready to serve it.

If you use frozen shrimp, melt your shrimp by placing it in a container in the sink and running a slow stream of cold water on it until it is thawed - usually 15-20 minutes at most.

Then, using kitchen shears, cut the back of the open shrimp and remove the vein by rinsing under cold water.

Cooking shrimp

On previous issues, we had confirmed (and reaffirmed) that shrimps are cooked quickly, so it is necessary for you to be prepared with all the supplies you need close to you and warn against cooking shrimps for a time above what is required.

Once your pot of water with the shrimp seasoning boils, lemon, garlic, and salt are ready, add the shrimp and cook for 3 minutes for medium sized shrimps and maybe for 5 minutes for larger shrimps. Look for shrimp grains to turn pink and "C" shaped.

Once you have finished cooking, transfer it immediately to iced water to stop cooking and leave it there for a few minutes. After that, you can peel the shell (leave the tail for easy eating) and serve it or put it in the fridge for later.

Keto cocktail sauce

I don't absolutely buy cocktail sauce. It is very easy to make, and it is particularly easy to make "keto" with the invention of sugar-free ketchup, all while you keep salt and spices to your liking.

So there are no measurements for cocktail sauce because it's a really personal preference. I love my country with lots of extra radish and lemon, but your tastes may be different. Do not skimp on us with your favorite cocktail sauce mixture, for it to be posted here with our recipes.

The shrimp cocktail is really special and exciting. If you find yourself with the remaining shrimp, you have to cut up leftovers and make delicious shrimp salad for lunch the next day.

Shrimp Cocktail for Keto Diet Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pack shrimp boil seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 large lemon
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 pound shrimp with shell on

Keto Cocktail Sauce

  • Half a cup of sugar-free ketchup
  • 1 lemon juice
  • Half a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of prepared radish

Instructions

  1. Bring a quarter of a liter of water to a boil. Add shrimp to a boil of spices, lemon, salt and garlic. Boil 5 minutes. Add shrimp and bring to boil for 3-4 minutes, or until shrimp turns pink and form C.
  2. Immediately remove the shrimp into an ice bath. Remove the shells leaving the tails.
  3. Cocktail sauce
  4. Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl. Taste and adjust spices. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
